Pipa and Ross: Real Bride Story

We met over 12 years ago through our younger siblings. Ross became close with my family, and we spent almost all our time together. I was able to support Ross with his business ventures and likewise he has supported me while I decided to go to university to become a radiographer.

We have travelled the world, visiting many places, but the most exciting was Thailand, where Ross decided to propose. I had waited for this moment for years, however for once in Ross’s life, he was lost for words. He never even said anything, I saw the box and shouted YES!!

The day we arrived home my mum was that excited she had already booked venues to view and looked at numerous wedding dresses!!

I ended up going to one shop and finding my perfect dress there. I did try on a handful of dresses as I wanted to try on all the different styles and shapes to make sure I got the right one for me.

I decided to pick the Ronald Joyce dress called Isabella 18909. I bought it from a lovely wedding dress shop in Edinburgh called Gwennes.

The gown was stunning and was the only one that really caught my eye. It was so simple and elegant but had so much gorgeous detail in it when you saw it up close. The sparkle from the beaded belt and detail on the bodice twinkle as I moved around. It made me feel amazing and had a gorgeous lace detail train to die for!!

I was very nervous going to a wedding dress shop, especially as I didn’t know what I wanted. However, I was made to feel so welcome and comfortable as soon as I stepped in the shop. I felt like a princess for the whole appointment. It was nice being the only bride to be in the store too, as you really felt that the staff were there for you. Gwenne the owner was there for my appointment, and she couldn’t have been any nicer or any more helpful. I would recommend the shop 100% to anyone looking for a wedding dress!

The day was honestly perfect from start to finish. I was so chill on the day, the complete opposite to how I thought I was going to be, but I feel this made such a big impact on how the day went. We got married at Carlowrie Castle, Kirkliston, Edinburgh. I trusted the venue and all my suppliers so there was really no reason for me to be nervous or uptight. And looking back at it, we did have the perfect day.

We decided to try an include as many people as we could to do things during the wedding. My mum and stepdad both walked me down the aisle. My niece and nephew were ring bearers. My Gran and Ross’s grandad signed our register and my uncle read out a poem during the ceremony. For us it was the perfect wedding and we will keep it with us forever.

If I had any advice for future brides it would be to not listen to people when they say you must do something because of tradition or that’s how it is. Do what you and your future husband want, as it is your day. Also, it goes by so quickly, so make sure you enjoy every second.
