Lucy & Tom: Real Bride Story

Tell us a bit about your wedding day

We got married at Shilstone House, Modbury. Our colour theme was pinks, peaches and rose gold. The bridesmaids wore peach coloured dresses and the men all wore pink ties. Our bouquets also matched the colour theme. We decorated the marquee with rose gold balloons, paper lanterns and had flowers on the tables. We got lucky with the weather and had an outdoor ceremony.

What was the most important thing for you to have at your wedding?

The most important thing for us was to have all of our family and closest friends to share the day with us. The venue was also very important to us. We wanted to have an outdoor wedding if possible and the grounds at Shilstone are simply stunning.

Describe your experience of finding your wedding dress for us

Every dress I had saved on Pinterest was a tight fitted, fish tail shaped dress or a tightly fitted sheath dress. That’s what everyone thought I would be wearing on the day and to tell you the truth I also thought so! When I went to try dresses on at Prudence Gowns, the lady pulled the dress that I bought off the rack and my reaction was…absolutely not! As I never would have imagined myself in it and would never have even picked it up to try it on. However, she persuaded me to try on the dress and to my surprise I instantly fell in love. It was the only dress I tried on that made me feel like a bride and I really did have that wow moment everyone talks about. Everyone said to me when you find the dress trust me you will know and now I know! I was very lucky as I found my dress on the first day I went shopping and it was probably dress number 5, after trying on tight fitting dresses to begin with. I then went to other shops over the next few weeks as I didn't want to buy a dress so quickly but I could not stop thinking about this Ronald Joyce dress. I went with my sister who was my maid of honour and my mum and my husbands' Mum and they all cried when I tried the dress on! I just knew that it was the one. No other dress made me feel like a bride. The dress is called Noelle _style 69310 by Ronald Joyce.
