Amy & Roisin: Real Brides Story

We spotted Amy _ Roisin’s amazing wedding photos on Instagram, we had to get in touch and find out more about why these ladies chose to get married in Ronald Joyce…

Where did you meet each other?

We met at a festival in London called Lovebox, we were introduced through some mutual friends! And as they say, the rest is history.

Tell us about the proposal…

Well, Roisin would like to claim the proposal but it was more of an 'I think we should do it, what do you think' kind of conversation whilst watching a sunset with a glass of champagne on holiday in Cascais, Portugal.

Where did you tie the knot?

We got married at Chateau De Varennes in Burgundy, France. It is one of the top 10 wedding venues in the world and it is beautiful with everything on site that us and our guests could ever need. There are vineyards and rolling fields where we had our photos taken. Its décor is superb and it’s very romantic.

How did you personalise your wedding?

We wanted to bring a bit of Irish feel into the day as Roisin is Irish so flew some buskers over that we found performing on Grafton street. It was a highlight of the day for us! We also had personalised Converse made with rainbow bottoms and the date of our wedding embossed.

Tell us about the wedding dress shopping…

We actually went casual dress shopping together not expecting to find what we were looking for and both fell in love with them in the same place on the first visit! We then had to bring family members back to make sure they didn't clash and to give their approval.

Did you know what style you wanted or were looking for?

I knew I wanted something traditional with a bit of lace and tight-fitting. Roisin knew she didn't want plain white or ivory as it didn't really work with her lovely Irish skin colouring!

What stood out for you about the gown you chose?

Mine really just felt like the one when I put it on, it fitted like a glove and the detail in it was just stunning. Roisin's had the absolute wow factor, she said she felt like a princess in it!

What gowns did you choose?

Roisin's was Chrissy, from the Ronald Joyce collection which has the most amazing beaded back ‘necklace’ and a sparkle tulle skirt. Mine was Imola, from the Victoria Jane Collection which has a plain sheath skirt and lace v-neck bodice.

What was your favourite moment of the day?

We chose France to have the meal outside with fairy lights and candles, unfortunately, we had torrential rain right after the starter which lasted all night. It didn't dampen our spirits though; the whole wedding party was out dancing in the pouring rain under the lightening skies - definitely a memorable part of the day!

Any future tips for brides?

We were really daunted about the number of dress styles there were and what we should go for. We both picked out styles we liked on Instagram and the lady in the shop was super helpful in helping us pick out a few dresses that matched our saved photos.

Anything else that you would like to add about your wedding or dress shopping experience?

We were both worried that we wouldn't find something suitable and would have to search shop after shop. We ended up finding them in the first shop we visited. I'd say just enjoy the experience it only happens once and when you put it on you'll know it’s the one!
